If you’re new to banjos, and are trying to decide between the RB-20 & RB-25 open-back banjos (RB-20)  have no back plate, giving them a softer, warmer sound that’s great for old-time, folk, and clawhammer styles. Resonator banjos (RB-25) add a back that reflects sound forward, making them louder and brighter—ideal for bluegrass and playing in bands.
